History of Polo in Oak Brook:
Polo has been played for more than 80 years at the historic Oak Brook Polo Grounds and everyone is invited to come out and watch the exciting "game of kings!"
Since its inception in 1922, during the "golden age" of polo, world-class teams have come every summer to play on the immaculately groomed fields of the Oak Brook Polo Grounds. Founded by Paul Butler, patriarch of the Village of Oak Brook, the original Oak Brook Polo Club became the largest polo facility in the country by 1953.
The U.S. Open (Polo), the premier polo tournament in the country, was played at Oak Brook for 25 years, from 1954 to 1978, the longest it was ever played in one location. The Oak Brook Club was once considered to be one of the top summer polo clubs in America, and is still well-known throughout the world. It is the Village's Polo Committee's goal to restore Oak Brook's location and Club to it's former level of prestige.
|2013 Oak Brook Polo Cancellation Update: Oak Brook Polo is an outdoor event and cancellation due to weather is possible. Thus, there is and has been a posted rain day cancellation policy that is stated on the event website, where someone may purchase a ticket, as well as the Village’s website. This year, because the scheduled rain date of October 6th also was cancelled, the Oak Brook Polo Committee has gone beyond the stated rain day cancellation policy and authorized gift certificates to be issued to those customers who purchased tickets for either September 15th or October 6th. If you are a customer that purchased ticket(s) for either the September 15th or October 6th events, you are eligible to receive a 2014 Oak Brook Polo gift certificate. To request the gift certificate, please email email@example.com and provide your name, address, the type of polo ticket|
|or tickets you purchased, how you purchased your ticket (online, at the gate, or in-person), and the amount you paid by December 13, 2013. If you are part of a group that was scheduled for one of the above dates, Please email at Polo@oak-brook.org. Thank you for your continued support of polo in Oak Brook and we look forward to posting information about the 2014 season shortly.|

A Look Back at 2012's Season:
In the spring of 2012 the Village signed an agreement with the Willow Harbor Polo Club from Three Oaks, Michigan to manage four (4) matches in 2012. Three (3) of those events were played and the planning for the 2013 schedule has begun. As of now, the matches will continue to be held on the Oak Brook Golf Club driving range, which is the former site of polo matches during the 1980’s and 1990’s.
