Donations & Volunteering

Your generous donation to the Library of gently used books or other materials is much appreciated. We accept donations of:

  • Books (hardcover or paperback)
  • Books on CD
  • DVDs
  • Music CDs

We will provide a receipt for items accepted for collections. The receipt may be used to show a donation for tax purposes. We are unable to assign an appraised value for donated items. You may wish to refer to IRS Taxpayer Information Publications 526, Charitable Contributions, and 561, Determining the Value of Donated Property, for assistance in deciding what value to claim for your donations. These publications can be found at Internal Revenue Services.

Examples of items that will not be accepted for donation:

  • Magazines, including National Geographic, loose or in bound volumes (except food magazines)
  • Encyclopedias
  • Reader's Digest Condensed Books
  • Law Books
  • Textbooks
  • Home-taped audio-visual materials
  • Computer software
  • Musty, mildewed, soiled or damaged items

Due to the ongoing pandemic, we are not accepting volunteers at the Library until further notice.

Volunteers enhance every service, program and activity at the Library. As a volunteer, you can meet new people, learn new skills and feel proud to be giving back to your community. Volunteers help in a variety of ways, including preparing new materials for the collection, repairing damaged materials, shelving materials, assisting with children's programs and crafts, preserving the Library's history, and many other projects. Wonderful opportunities await you as a volunteer at the Library.

Volunteers must be at least 13 years of age.
