Community Organization of the Month - November

People's Resource Center

Since 1975, People’s Resource Center has been bringing neighbors together to respond to hunger and poverty in DuPage County. With a team of over 2,700 volunteers, we offer nutritious food and other basic necessities like clothes and rent assistance for people facing tough times.  We also connect people with resources, including education and tutoring, jobs, technology, art and a caring community, to create a future of hope and opportunity for all.

PRC has received 11 consecutive four-star ratings from Charity Navigator, an accomplishment earned by only 1% of nonprofits nationally. In March 2016, West Suburban Living Magazine named PRC the “Most Impactful Local Non-Profit Group” in Chicago’s western suburbs.

PRC was started in 1975 in a little house on Indiana Avenue that still exists. The first year they served 125 families. Last year, PRC served over 7,000 households.

What Can You Do To Get Involved?
PRC needs your help with their annual Share the Spirit program. Though things have changed this year, with your support they can still provide joy and hope to 700 local families. They are especially in need of new children’s books.

Visit peoplesrc.org/share2020 for all the details and for their Amazon, Walmart and Target wishlists.
