How to make a 9
1 1 Call
Call from a safe place: Get away from sources of
danger (fire, gas leak, etc.). Call from a neighbors
house or pay phone. (Phone calls made from a pay phone
to 9 1 1 are free.)
Stay calm: Speak clearly and slowly, this is to make
sure you get the help you need.
Answer all questions: Provide any information that the
emergency communications operator asks for. What is the
exact location of the incident, what exactly has happened,
the phone number where you are calling from, etc.
Listen for instructions: Do what the communications
operator instructs you to do.
Stay on the line: Do not hang-up until you have been
told to do so
