Taxi Licenses
TAXI DRIVER’S LICENSE APPLICATION INFORMATION

Applications may be completed online and printed. Submit the following documents to Charlotte K. Pruss, Village Clerk, 1200 Oak Brook Road, Oak Brook, IL 60523:

  1. Two (2) 2 X 2” photos clearly showing your face and shoulders. Photos must have been taken within the past 30 days. (If you were licensed by the Village of Oak Brook for the previous licensing year, you do not need to provide photographs unless you altered the hair on your head or face.)
  2. Court Purposes Driving abstract (MVR) obtained from Illinois Secretary of State within the last 30 days.
  3. $50 license fee.
  4. State Driver’s License.

This application and the attached documents become the property of the Village of Oak Brook. If you wish to maintain copies of any of these documents, please have those copies made before they are submitted to the Village of Oak Brook.
After you have submitted all necessary documents including application, photographs, driving abstract & licensing fee, the Police Chief or his designee shall investigate the applicant for a taxicab operator's permit.  If this investigation or the application materials reveal that the statements made as part of the application are inaccurate or reveal information showing any of the following, the application shall not be approved and no taxicab driver's license shall be issued to the applicant:

1.  The applicant has been convicted of a felony based upon his/her conduct or involvement in such business activity or similar business within the past ten (10) years;

2.  The applicant has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor unrelated to his/her conduct or involvement in such business activity or similar business, which felony or misdemeanor involves any of the following offenses:

(i)   unlawful possession with the intent to deliver:  any Controlled Substance, as such term is defined in the Illinois Controlled Substances Act (720 ILCS 570/100 et seq.), as amended from time to time; or cannabis as defined in the Cannabis Control Act (720 ILCS 550/1 et seq.), as amended from time to time; or an Intoxicating Compound as listed or defined in the Intoxicating Compounds Act (720 ILCS 690/0.01 et seq.), as amended from time to time, or any like offense of another state or country within the past ten (10) years; or

(ii)   unlawful possession of any Controlled Substance, Cannabis or Intoxicating Compound, within the past five (5) years; or

(iii)   any sex offense as such offenses are defined in the Illinois Criminal Code 720 ILCS 5/1-1 et seq., or any like offense of another state or country, within the past ten (10) years; or

(iv)   any offense involving violence against another person or threatened violence against another person under the Illinois Criminal Code (720 ILCS 5/1-1 et seq.) or any like offense of another state or country, within the past ten (10) years; or

(v)   any offense involving moral turpitude, including, but not limited to, any offense involving the misapplication, misappropriation or misuse of funds of another person, within the past five (5) years; or

(vi)  any offense involving theft or retail theft.

     

3.   The applicant has been convicted of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, cannabis or an intoxicating compound under Illinois law (625 ILCS 5/11-501 et seq.) as amended from time to time or similar provision of a local ordinance or any like offense of another state or country, within the past five (5) years.

4.  The applicant has been convicted of reckless driving under Illinois law (625 ILCS 5/11-503 et seq.) as amended from time to time or similar provision of a local ordinance or any like offense of another state or country within the past five (5) years.

5.  The applicant's driver's license has been suspended for moving or non-moving violations of a motor driven vehicle within the past five (5) years.

Once approved, the Deputy Village Clerk will contact you when your Taxicab Driver’s License is ready to be picked up. Only after you have received your Taxicab Driver’s License and Taxicab Registration decal, may you begin to pick up passengers in Oak Brook.

TAXI COMPANY APPLICATION PROCESS

Title 4, Chapter 2, Vehicles for Hire, from the Village Code of Oak Brook will assist in the completion of your application, please read the license application guidelines in this chapter. Section 4-2-3-1. Cab Company Licenses, explains the procedure to follow for applying for a cab company license.
Applications may be completed online and printed. Submit the following documents to Charlotte K. Pruss, Village Clerk, 1200 Oak Brook Road, Oak Brook, IL 60523:
• Application Fee ($200.00)
• List of vehicles including Cab #, Make, Model, Year, Vin #
• Certificate of Insurance
• Rate Card
Owners, Partners, Officers, Directors, Members and Stockholders need to be fingerprinted the first time a company or individual applies for a license. Succeeding years, the Village will be able to request an update from the Illinois State Police.

TAXICAB REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Applications may be completed online, printed and submitted as required to Charlotte K. Pruss, Village Clerk, 1200 Oak Brook Road, Oak Brook, IL 60523. Please contact the Village Clerk’s office at (630) 368.5052 if you require assistance in compliance of our Taxicab regulations within Oak Brook.
In order to have your taxi registered by the Oak Brook Police Department, you must submit the following documents to the Village Clerk's office:
1. Village of Oak Brook Taxicab Registration signed by the owner of the Taxi. (Pg 1)
2. Completed Safety Inspection Sheet** (Pages 2 & 3)

3. Taximeter Certificate of Accuracy* (Form provided by inspection facility)
4 . Proof of Insurance -- Copy of Certificate of Insurance
5 . Oak Brook Taxi Driver's License

6.  $25.00 Registration Fee

After these documents are filed with the Village Clerk's office:
