Electric Aggregation Program
On Tuesday, October 25, 2011 the Village Board awarded a contract to Integrys Energy Services, Inc. to provide electricity supply for the Village’s electric aggregation program. The Village secured a fixed rate of 5.52 ¢/kWh for eligible residential customers and 5.45 ¢/kWh for eligible small business customers for a two year period. These rates represent a 29% savings for residential customers and a 27% - 30% savings for small business customers.

The following eligibility requirements apply:

  • Customers must not have opted-out of the Program
  • Customers must not be supplied generation service from another supplier
  • Customers must not be on ComEd hourly billing
  • Commercial customers must have a Peak Demand of  <=100kW

Until November 21, 2011 residents and businesses had the right to opt out of the contract with Integrys and remain with ComEd or even chose to go to another supplier. Regardless of whichever option residents and businesses chose, they will still get a ComEd bill and will still call ComEd in case of an outage as ComEd will continue to be responsible for maintaining the electric service.

Eligible Village residents and businesses have the following three options:

  1. To take advantage of the Village’s negotiated bid with Integrys. You do not have to take action. You will automatically be included in the Village’s Electric Aggregation Program.
  2. To remain with ComEd for electric supply. You should opt-out of the Village program. You will continue to be charged at the current ComEd rates for electric supply.
  3. To select a supplier other than Integrys or ComEd. You should opt-out of the Village program. Then select whichever supplier you choose. If you choose a supplier other than Integrys or ComEd, please review and understand the terms and conditions.

Two separate letters were sent to all eligible residential and commercial customers. The first letter explained the Village’s electric aggregation program and how to opt-out, and the second letter explained other options available to eligible customers. Please see below further information.

Note: The opt-out deadline was Monday, November 21, 2011

As we are entering December, both Integrys and ComEd will soon be mailing out letters pertaining to Oak Brook's Electrical Aggregation Program. The Integrys letter will be a welcome letter stating that the new electrical supply rate will begin in January and that the first bill including the Integrys Energy Services' Rate will likely arrive in February. Shortly after you receive the Integrys letter, ComEd will be mailing a letter confirming your enrollment with Integrys. The letter will notify you of the number of days you will have to rescind, should you change your mind, and will provide instructions on how to do so.
